چکیده

With a direct demodulation method, we have reanalyzed the data from the COMPTEL observation of PKS0528+134 during the 1993 March flare in γ-rays. Our results show that during the flare γ-rays were detected at a level approximately 2.4-3.8 times higher than the observed intensity in two earlier COMPTEL observations VP 0 and VP 1 in the energy range 3 MeV to 30 MeV. The 3-30 MeV time variability of the flux follows well the trend as observed by EGRET at higher energies. No convincing excess can be found around the position of PKS0528+134 in the energy range 0.75 MeV to 3 MeV, which indicates a spectral break around 3 MeV. The detections and non-detections in the four standard COMPTEL energy bands are consistent with the earlier reports given by Collmar et al., while the feature that γ-rays of the quasar still kept on flaring at energies down to 3 MeV is clearly found.

A large high - energy gamma - ray flare from the blazar 3 C 273

The Compton Gamma-Ray Observatory (CGRO) experiments EGRET and COMPTEL observed the Virgo sky region continuously for 7 weeks between December 10, 1996 and January 28, 1997. The prominent quasar 3C 273 was found to be the brightest source in γ-rays and was significantly detected by EGRET and COMPTEL. The EGRET experiment observed a time-variable flux at energies above 100 MeV, which reached in ...

Comptel Observations of Gro J1655-40

GRO J1655-40 is a transient black-hole candidate that has been shown to eject matter at apparently superluminal velocities. OSSE spectra measured during X-ray outbursts are consistent with a single power law up to 600 keV, with no evidence for a high-energy cutoo. Flaring behaviour of GRO J1655-40 has also been claimed to be detected up to 10 MeV during observations with the balloon-borne HIREG...

Extreme X - ray variability in the luminous quasar PDS 456

We present evidence from BeppoSAX and XMM-Newton of extreme X-ray variability in the high luminosity radio-quiet quasar PDS 456, the most luminous known AGN at z < 0.3. Repeated X-ray flaring is found in PDS 456, over the duration of the 340 ksec long BeppoSAX observation. The X-ray flux doubles in just 30 ksec, whilst the total energy output of the flaring events is as high as 10 51 erg. Under...

The COMPTEL experiment aboard the Compton Gamma-Ray Observatory (CGRO) has observed the gamma-ray blazar 3C 279 several times between April 1991 and September 1995. This paper reports on a consistent analysis of these observations using the most recent COMPTEL data analysis tools. Detections and non-detections of 3C 279 along the CGRO-mission indicate a time-variable MeVflux. Spectral variabili...
